This entry is directed to the drinkers (Btw, I'm not one.)!
I've been here for a week plus already and guess what? In every supermarket/departmental/hypermarket store I've been to, not one of them have any alcohol on their shelves! Apparently, the United Arab Emirates restricts the purchase of alcohol from a liquor store(if there's any) to non-Muslim foreigners who have residence permits and who have an Interior Ministry liquor license ( some kind of licence laa..).
Alcohol of any form is very, very, very, VERY expensive and is served only in certain international hotels and totally unavailable in the city.
To be able to purchase them, you need some kind of permit or some sort. IF you manage to get your hands on 'em, you've got to be careful not to be spotted because drinking alcohol or be drunk in public is a punsihable offence.
After a week plus of scouting around, this is the closest I got to alcohol :
